Re: Unbelievable Failures Emerging from Grenfell Tower Fire Inquiry

The London Fire Brigades Control Room staff are all civilian (ie non firefighting) employees. The same goes for other UK Fire Services. They are recruited directly for this role with no requirement to be a firefighter. See https://jobs.london-fire.gov.uk/jobs/control-room-officer-ct00001 and https:/...

Re: Tathra report released to public

Maybe the Duty Officer/ local manning model needs to be reviewed. From what I can see (and told by RFS crews responding) is that no one generally knows what manning there is. This leads to multiple brigades being activated one after another as to get a crew on scene. I look forward to seeing the mi...

Re: RFS and Rescue

Only 3 1/2 weeks for the SRB to release a communique post SRB meeting?

That would have to be some sort of record as it is more usual for communiques to take around 3 months post meeting.

I gather these Brigades will have to maintain some for a of formal availability in their rescue role?
The usual SRB requirement of a minimum of two rescue operators available applies.

Seeing that all GSA 4wd tankers are now manned by retained f/fs who are not on the 24hr shifts might explain the need for RFS.
45 Miranda, 94 Kellyville and 98 Cranebrook have 4wd tankers. They do not have retained, so the tankers when manned, are manned by permanent firefighters I believe.
